I've actually seen people do professional work with the Notion for desktop sounds. I would encourage you to download all 6 of the Bundled Sounds Installers that are in your my. account under My Products>Software>Notion 6 Demo and test them out for yourself. The sounds in the app are great, but there are more layers of sound per sample in the desktop version, which is why the library for the desktop version is over 4 times the size as the iOS app. I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the Notion for iOS app. Thanks in advance for any feedback - I can use all the help I can get.

I see there is an iOS version - if I spend the $15 and use it on my iPad will I get a good idea on how it will work for me in Windows? Does that version export a midi file? (Actually, a good question is whether the Windows version does as well - that's kind of critical to me). Unfortunately, there is no demo so it's a bit of a plunge to spend $150 on the off chance it will work for me. I guess I could still use my old version (I have Finale 2008, I think) but I read somewhere that Notion was a good choice for someone who liked to compose in this manner so I thought I'd come here and see. Finale worked for me, but because I'm not interested in the printout the things they tended to add/enhance mostly were worthless. I'm a notional composer - never got used to a DAW to make music - and I used to make my stuff in Finale and then perhaps bring it into a DAW or other tool to record. I've been away from music composition for WAY too long (over a decade) and in coming back I have a choice to upgrade my Finale to 25 and probably get the Garritan GPO5 at the same time (since I love orchestral sounds for my compositions).
